I was born in Lucknow and spent my childhood there. I did my schooling from City Montessori School. I consider my parents as my role models and they have brought me up under excellent morals and values. The most important lesson I derived from my family is to realize the great value of education and I have been an eager learner ever since childhood. Having studied in the world’s biggest school in terms of number of students studying, I have interacted with a diverse set of people. My transition and efforts at school can be captured in the awards my mother won. From being a ‘Mother Great’ then ‘Mother Magnificent’ to the highest position of ‘Mother Queen’, the awards were given as I progressed from being ranked 10th in Class to 1st in Class in the IX Standard and with multiple Medals in X and XII Std. The pride and glow in my mother’s eyes made me even more diligent.
Apart from studies, I also enjoyed taking part in debates, essay writing and poster making competitions. I was a member of office bearers club in my school and was chosen as the proctor of the school. I organized various competitions at intra branch level of my school.
After my high school degree, I joined Vellore Institute of Technology, one of the best private colleges in the country. During my graduation I have had a good deal of industrial experience in the form of summer trainings at HP where I learned about Embedded and robotics technology and at NTPC where I learned about communication systems, modulation techniques and VSAT communication.
After completing my B.Tech, I joined SapientRazorfish and have been working here for the past two and a half years. While working for one of the retail clients, I got the chance to understand how the activities of different departments are intricately interwoven, how inventory management is linked to procurement planning and in turn to sales forecasting, how to enhance the overall effectiveness of the organization by making information available in real time which prompts decision making at different levels of management. This experience has aroused my interest in areas such as sales and marketing, financial management and human resource management of which I knew very little.
I now want to acquire holistic knowledge of all disciplines of management and how they are seamlessly integrated in the functioning of an organization. I believe that an MBA course will acquaint me with different sectors of the business world and expose me to real business problems in different sectors through case studies, project work and interaction with the industry. The guidance of the learned and experienced faculty and the interaction with peers from different educational and professional backgrounds would indeed provide a great learning experience and extend my horizons.
My choice to pursue a career in management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIMB) stems from the potential of this course to teach me about the emerging business environment and also the varying opportunities available to a graduate of IIMB. It is this quality education that I am interested in and which prompts me to pursue a course in management.
