Goal setting is very important to accomplish something in our lives. A majority of people are strongly convinced that planning goal is a crucial and simple strategy to improve work ability or success. This is mainly because it provides us the direction and motivates ourselves. In the case of my experience, I always set my goal whenever I start something new. Last year, I also had several goals such as passing the course and having a driver license. Nevertheless, the keyword of 2017 is regret for me. I failed to fulfill promises due to my laziness and bad habits. Everyone might have obstacle which disturbs from reaching the goal. According to the survey, 92 percent of people fail to accomplish their goals. The result of this poll has shown that achieving goal is very difficult. Consequently, people have to determine clear goal plan, stop procrastinating and motivate themselves with reward for every accomplishment.To begin with, determining exactly about your goal is the most important and first step of goal setting. Writing down about your goals on paper with its benefits comes from successful accomplishment. According to George T. Doran, the former director of corporate planning for Washington Water Power Company, published a book about S.M.A.R.T. method for successful goal setting, it should be clear and specific. This method can increase the chance of reaching the goal by asking oneself with five w’s question during the goal setting. Moreover, it allows people to make explicit plans and provides accurate direction for increasing the possibility of success. Through this process with understanding the importance and responsibility of your goal, people will have a stronger sense of accountability which keeps them motivate in hard times. In addition to this, avoiding procrastination by eliminating distraction are essential condition to achieve goals. Stop procrastinating what you should do now. Procrastination is the biggest negative factor which interrupt us from completing our work. Many people have a tendency to procrastinate because of several distractions around them. The first step is always the hardest. To start taking action rather than waiting until the last day or postponing to another day, we have to minimize other types of distractive elements. The most common distractions which makes people hard to focus on are interacting with their friends by phone, messy environment or ????. As a result, people who want to reach their goal have to try to stop putting off by dividing tasks in several parts or enhancing concentration by turning off the phone notification.Additionally, celebrating each minor accomplishment with small rewards can motivate oneself to reach the goal easier. It can be a day off, eating delicious dessert or going shopping. This kind of little happiness can bring better outcome or encourages to work harder for another accomplishment. It will help you to overcome in a tough situation and keep going. A recent research has shown that tiny prize can be a positive and effective reinforcement. Everyone has received the reward for great work in childhood at least once. Reward can inspire you. For example, when I was young, my parents used to give me a gift what I wanted to have after I finished reading a book or winning in competition. All in all, in order to achieve the goal, the three strategies as previously stated are crucial factors. People have to plan the specific goal and keep remind it. Many successful people like Bill Gates emphasize the importance of goal setting. Not only goal setting, but also people have to start and keep track it. This step is always the hardest one to take action. However, the next step will be easier after you start. Not wait until another day and just get start toward reaching the goal. Additionally, celebrating oneself with small reward can motivate to bring better result. In 2018, I will make an effort to achieve everything I want by following this three strategies. “Old habits die hard”. Procrastinating is the one of deleterious habits from my childhood which gives me negative effects. Since today, I will always do my tasks on the nail.
